The University of Michigan Health System has been named one of Metropolitan Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For for the ninth time since 2005.
The recognition comes as a result of survey responses received from a sample of the Health System’s staff. UMHS was honored along with other select companies by the Michigan Business and Professional Association.
Only companies that distinguish themselves as having the most innovative and thoughtful human resources receive this honor.
“The U-M Health System is honored to be given this recognition,” says Stephanie Schroeder, Chief Human Resource Officer, Interim, at the UMHS. “It serves as a testimonial to our employees’ continued ability to serve a diverse patient population, think creatively and work together in new and effective ways.”
For the competition, UMHS was evaluated on the basis of its employees’ survey responses to different questions on leadership, productivity, communications, career opportunities, working conditions, management, pay and benefits.
An independent research firm evaluates each company’s entry based on key measures in various categories. They include Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions; Employee Enrichment, Engagement and Retention; Employee Education and Development; Recruitment, Selection and Orientation; Employee Achievement and Recognition; Communication and Shared Vision; Diversity and Inclusion; Work-Life Balance; Community Initiatives; Strategic Company Performance and the Best of the Best Small Business.
“We are honored to recognize the efforts of this year’s ‘Best and Brightest’ companies. These companies have created impressive organizational value and business results through their policies and Best Practices in human resource management,” says Jennifer Kluge, MBPA president.
