Karen Zander, RN, MS, CMAC, FAAN, Principal and Co-owner of The Center for Case Management, will be the keynote speaker at a Care Management workshop July 10.
Her talk begins at 8 a.m. in Med Sci I M3330 before a planning session on the successful implementation of Care Management at UMHHC. While the planning session is only open to identified Care Management phase 1 units, all are invited to attend Zander’s lecture. Please notify Karen Gonzalez if you plan to attend.
Zander has been an internationally-known leader in Care Management practices for more than 25 years. She has provided lectures and consultation in Japan, Canada, the UK, Spain, Australia and Ecuador. Hospitals and Health Networks named her a “Cutting Edge” leader.
Zander teaches the course “Case Management Across the Continuum” at Northeastern University in Boston. She is the author of three recent texts from HCPro:
1) Hospital Case Management Models: Evidence Connecting the Bedside to the Boardroom
2) Emergency Department Case Management (with K. Walsh)
3) Competency Evaluation Tools for Case Management Professionals.
She was also the editor of “Managing Outcomes through Collaborative Care,” from the American Hospital Publishing Co, and for 25 years has edited The New Definition newsletter. Zander holds a BSN from Illinois Wesleyan University, an MS in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from Boston University, post-graduate credits from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Doctorate in Humane Letters (DHL), honoris causa, from Ill. Wesleyan University.
The Center for Case Management was founded 25 years ago to assist payers and providers with tools, roles and systems for managing outcome-driven care from the bedside to the boardroom.
